Dear Parents,
I hope you enjoy this time of learning about science with your fourth grader. Each student has been given one printed copy of the following fourth grade Science Fair information.

Your written report needs to be completed on the computer or typed. It should include the following:

I. Title Page (Sent home earlier)

II. Table of Contents (Sent home earlier)

III. Written Report (About 6 Paragraphs in Length)

1. Paragraph one: Purpose: What question did you ask that started your project? In two or three sentences tell what you want to learn from your investigation.

2. Paragraph two: Hypothesis: An educated quess or estimation about what you think will happen as a result of the investigation. Details Help!!! Use words like if......then.

3. Paragraph three: Materials: This is a list of all the materials and supplies you used. List them in the order that they were used.

4. Paragraph four: Procedure: List the step by step (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) of what happened during your investigation . Someone else should be able to read the procedure and conduct your investigation the same way you did.

5. Paragraph 5: Analysis: Write your observations about what happened when you conducted your investigation. List the variables used in the procedure that support or oppose the hypothesis. Be specific and detailed, from beginning to end.

6. Paragraph 6: Conclusion: You should tell whether your hypothesis was proven or not proven. Explain why your project turned out the way it did. Details help!! What happened? Was it what you expected? Did your results agree with the hypothesis? Did it answer the original question? Clearly communitcate your discoveries with others.

Make sure you have complete sentences, no misspelled words, and correct punctuation.
